Unless otherwise noted, each session follows the Civano soup/salad supper, which begins at 5:30 p.m. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. Both take place
at the HOA Activity Center located in the Civano Neighborhood 1 Neighborhood

Civano artist Sheila Hamann will discuss how our artistry lies just beneath the surface, and how we each tap into this inner artistic sense every day. She will demonstrate some techniques and provide an opportunity to use materials in a project.

Learn how colored walls can make your plants “pop” as author and garden designer Scott Calhoun leads you on an illustrated tour of Southwestern colored walls (from Civano to Texas) that will cover wall style, color selection, and plant choices. Scott will also be signing his new book, The Hot Garden, following his talk. |

Personal Preparedness
September is National Preparedness Month. Every day, families, neighbors and co-workers face emergencies large and small. A kitchen fire, broken water pipe or extended power outage are all emergencies. We can minimize their effects on our lives if we’ve planned ahead and learned what to do. Are you ready? Tom Taylor from the Pantano Disaster Action Team and Tim Siemsen, Civano resident and a coordinator with the County Health Department’s Public Health Preparedness Program help you prepare for any emergency.

Rosemont Mine: An Update
This presentation, led by Saving the Scenic Santa Ritas board president Gayle Hartmann, will explain the basic facts of the proposal for a mile-wide, open-pit copper mine on the eastern slope of the Santa Rita Mountains, the effects it will have on southern Arizona residents, and what we are doing to try to stop it.
