Networked computers with Internet access are located in every classroom and office. Teachers post grades and attendance into a web-based program that parents can access from virtually anywhere. Inclusion programs for students with developmental and learning disabilities allow placement in regular classrooms. The District's modified school calendar provides opportunities for some students and staff to take extended off-season vacations in October and March. The award-winning district was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education's initiative, Arizona Goes Back to School, for its extraordinary volunteer program. Vail High School received the 1999 School-to-Work 5 Star Outstanding Practice Award for offering internships and paid on-the-job learning experiences to high school juniors and seniors. The District's Governing Board has received the Award of Excellence from the State School Board Association. In 2000, the District also received national recognition when the Public Relations Society of America honored the District with its Silver Anvil Award for “Community Relations.” For further information, visit the Vail School District Website.
